Beta 4 released! (17 Aug 2017)

  • Updated to the newest versions of the audio libs.
  • Including the mp3 decoding versions of bass.dll to avoid issues with Windows built-in decoders.
  • Bug fixes that may have been causing Microphone cut-out issues for some users.
  • Bug fixes in the cross-fader including one that was causing Deck B to only fade-in to ~50%-80% no matter what the deck volume was set to.
  • Re-configured the full-screen mode to first save current settings before going full-screen.
  • Improved loading of music into the Playlist via Add Folder and Add Files. (Not perfect, but much better that it was)
  • Improved drag-n-drop function for loading music into the Playlist.
  • Some minor code cleanup.

Beta 3 Released! (3 Aug 2017)

Notes on changes since Beta 1 (Beta 2 was never officially released):

  • Various minor bug fixes
  • Fixed problem with deck B not sending title info to servers
  • Fixed buggy volume controls for both player decks
  • Bug fixes in the Listeners section
  • Added option to send NO title updates at all
  • Full screen mode added
  • Various minor layout/design changes
  • Re-arranged the timers on the decks so that the large timer shows the time remaining
  • Changed the buttons for add/remove songs so that they always display options no matter where you click on them
  • Increased the font sizes of numerous items for better readability
  • Temporarily removed the equalizers from the players. They will return in the next release once I have determined how best to display them.

I'm sure there was more, but I can't think of it right now.

Enjoy.

First off don't shoot the messenger.... While its good to see an update for Lunarcaster.

I went to install this as I usually do with software, Imported a folder and its just skipping tracks consonantly without playing any of them, this is on Windows 7, making the program unusable, soundcard is set properly I've at least checked that much, the files were mp3's which all play OK in other players Winamp, RDJ etc...

I have no idea what could be causing it to do this I've given the program all the "run as administrator" commands nothing showing in windows error logs

Hope you can trace this problem as I'd like to give it a proper spin at some point.

I'd test on Windows 10 except that's giving me grief at the moment with popping audio.

Hello RDJUser,

Just to get the semantics out of the way, there is no install process for LCDJ. Just extracting the folder out of the zip file (in case anyone gets confused by that:)).

That is unusual though. I have never had any problem with any audio files I have tried myself and certainly not with mp3's. Are you playing them from a network drive by any chance? I have had a few reports of issues with some NAS devices (just not very specific information as yet unfortunately).

The only time I have ever seen LCDJ skip files, is when someone moved the the files after creating their playlist. In other words, if they were located in D:\music and they moved the music to E:\music or something along those lines which would require recreating the playlist. Or moving a USB drive that had their music on it to a different port, which will sometimes cause windows to give it a new drive letter (at least in some versions of Windows). But, I am guessing this is not the problem you are having since you had just created your playlist...so...I'm not sure exactly what is causing it in your case.

Running as Administrator is not normally needed.

A couple things to try if you are willing:

1. Have you tried dragging and dropping a mp3 file directly to one of the players to see if it will play?

2. Try a different audio file type (wav, aac, etc.) if possible.

If you could let me know if either of those work, that would be great. It could help me narrow down the problem.

Thanks for the feedback. Always welcome.

I have a larger playlist the only time I tried your program it froze trying to load a 21k playlist. How do you setup a radio schedule with many programs to play weekly??
Phat Beats Radio playing Rap Hiphop RnB Soul Funk Reggae Chillhop Acid Jazz Blues from the 1970s to early 2000s over 96k traxx playlist streaming at 96kbps AAC+ from Houston TX http://www.phatbeatsradio.com

The files weren't moved they've been on the same drive letter for quite sometime. I had just imported them into the program..

Don't have any other files to test it on at the moment. The mp3 files are all ripped CBR 320kbps.

Probably a Windows files permission issue knowing my luck as Windows seems to want to rebel at the moment.

Hi DJboutit,

Do you happen to remember which version you tried when that happened? Some earlier versions would freeze while building playlists. But, I have never tried to load quite that many songs at one time. Either way though, the Playlist section is my primary focus for the next release. I am looking into ways to improve the entire setup for that, so I am open to any suggestions for the layout, design and functionality.

I know of issues with drag-and-drop adding of music causing duplicates of songs to be added as well as temporary freezing right after loading larger playlists. But, did your test never recover from freezing up?

How do you setup a radio schedule with many programs to play weekly??

If you are talking about a fully automated program, in the right tab block, there is an experimental tab called "Events". I will be making a video sometime this week explaining how this is supposed to work but, it is by no means a fully functional feature and I have no idea when it will be.

Yeah, that's what I figured.

OK. No problem.

I would be surprised if it was a permissions issue, but only a little. With Windows you just never know. I do have an idea. If you could download this zip file:

http://lunarcaster.com/stuff/bass.zip

and extract the bass.dll file from it and replace the bass.dll that is in the lunarcaster folder with that one. I have released LCDJ with a version of that dll file that does not have built in mp3 decoding. It normally uses the built-in mp3 decoder that is in Windows to avoid any kind of patent infringement concerns. Now that the mp3 patents have expired, I think I will start including the decoding version. In fact, I am hoping that I can also start including the Lame encoder with new releases too, but I need to be sure of a few things first.

Anyway, I'm rambling on...lol. If you get a chance to try that out, I would appreciate it.

Replacing the bass.dll file did indeed fix the issue its seems to actually be playing stuff will give it a good test at some point this week.

Well, then that earlier problem was already fixed by then. I have plans to redo the entire Playlist functionality. Hopefully that will fix the issues you are having. But, I don't know when it will be done. I'll post something here when it is.

Thanks again for your feedback!

The version I used was no more then 2 or 3 version back.

Hello,

Good to hear. Thanks for trying that out. I look forward to any additional feedback you have. I have a Beta 4 that will be released soon (Thursday or Friday) since I have a few issues that have been resolved this week.

v1.2 Beta 4 Changes so far include:

  • Updated to the newest versions of the audio libs.
  • Including the mp3 decoding versions of bass.dll to avoid issues with Windows built-in decoders.
  • Bug fixes that may have been causing Microphone cut-out issues for some users.
  • Bug fixes in the cross-fader including one that was causing Deck B to only fade-in to ~50%-80% no matter what the deck volume was set to.
  • Re-configured the full-screen mode to first save current settings before going full-screen.

Just posting that info so you know some of the issues you may run into, that I have already fixed for the next release.

Replacing the bass.dll file did indeed fix the issue its seems to actually be playing stuff will give it a good test at some point this week.
