Stream works on my side. But people cant listen?

Recommended Posts

Ive been told by many people.

That my radiostation doesnt let them connect

They use WMP 11

it is very strange.

Because they cannot connect

Yet i can.

Is there any way i can make my ip address public.

Ive tried it all.

The server is running Linux.

Ports fowarded

Shoutcast page shows on my side

I gave them a ASX file and they still say it doesnt work.

Any advice on what am doing wrong?

My IP is converted to a domain.

So you can access it through

gcfcn.com:4711

Not really sure why i cant get it working.

I have the tracks and music .mp3

In my desktop so im Djing all of the music in the desktop via WIMP

and my server is the source that lets people connect.

Some 1 suggested to have my server play the music.

Im not really sure though how i can give the files to my server

Probley wget on my website

Tell me what you think!

My server doesnt have a firewall but ima probley install one for protection and allow those ports.

Im getting page cannot be forund.

ok.. i recommend streaming off port 8000 or around that. Then you can unblock it via your router.. see tutorial: http://www.broadcastingworld.net/resour ... le-79.html

And you can only upload songs to the server if you have autodj. Which i dont think you have.

Hey Blackfalcon

I noted that I cannot even Ping your address (192.168.1.5) which is interesting because 192.168.1.? is usually an Internal IP address. I am not sure how your domain resolves out to that particular address. Since there seems to be no DNS entry listed, it sounds to me like your Firewall isnt allowing outside access to the particular computer your broadcasting from. It also sounds to my like your NOT using a Router and are connecting your PC directly to the internet because an ISP's DHCP server would assign your computer an IP address outside this range (192.168.anything)

If your running Vista, this is problematic as their firewall is useless. If you have or can get a router with a firewall, you need to set your Port Forwarding in the router for port 4711 (or any port you assign to shoutcast) to your particular computers IP address and disable the Windows Firewall. This will allow people to access your stream and offer some protection. You can also allow them access thru your Windows Firewall. The Inherent drawback is people WILL be able to access your computer too thru your Admin level access. This is something to avoid at all costs!

Hope this helps you some!

I tried accessing it myself, but still cannot get to the page. I am sure it has to do with the IP Addressing. Depening on which TimeWarner server you attach to the IP address would not be an internal addy of 192.168.?.?. Roadrunners DNS servers (default) start at 24.30.200.? or 65.24.0.?. You need to get the IP addy assigned you by Roadrunner. The 192.168.?.? is the internal addy your Router assigned your computer, that address is not accessable from the outside.

Good luck!
