djgary72
"ShoutCast for Business"? https://djgarybaldy.co.uk/shoutcast-for-business/ Only going on what I read on the Winamp forums. http://forums.winamp.com/showpost.php?p=3156398&postcount=23 I'm waiting to see what they call "Competitive rates" I knew they couldn't keep the services free forever I just hope they don't start charging for the basic Shoutcast DNAS I've heard nothing but bad press about their free services with stream buffering along with player issues where some streams would play and some wouldn't from the Shoutcast YP Dear Shoutcast User We are delighted to announce we are launching a new Shoutcast audio streaming offer: Shoutcast for Business. Shoutcast for Business is the ultimate suite of advanced tools for Broadcasters that lifts audio streaming solution to the highest level. Two years after its launch, we have decided to upgrade our current streaming service in order to improve its quality and services. We have redesigned our solution with premium servers and bandwidth to ensure your listeners a full connectivity and a new radio manager that includes Shoutcast’s first automation system, the planner, powerful analytics and many other widgets to help you optimize the management of your radio station. We’re very excited to have you on-board for a 3 months’ trial. Starting from the 13th of June 2018, your station will be automatically transferred to the new platform at 3:00 PM (CET Time). You will need to update connection information in your encoder right after the transfer, click here for more information. Before your trial ends, you’ll be invited to upgrade and then you’ll be charged 14.9 €/$ every month, based on your current monthly total listening hours. During the 3-month trial period, you can also decide to end your contract with Shoutcast by email notification at trial@shoutcast.com. As we value your feedback, we remain available to answer your questions at support@shoutcast.com. James
FYI, I found this in their 'hidden' support section... https://shoutcastsupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/115000656174-Shoutcast-For-Business-SC4B- Seems like the pricing will be announced on this page soon: http://www.shoutcast.com/Pricing EDIT: Bit of a write-up, good enough to classify it as a leak! https://www.broadcastingworld.com/news/shoutcast-for-business-sc4b-leaked/ Edited June 14, 2018 by James Studiio - All-In-One Radio Communication Platform SMS | Phone Calls | Social Media | Content
JohnDrake
Thousands of small Internet radio stations went with Radionomy because they were promised it would be “totally free, no matter how big your audience gets.” These small stations put up with unreliable streaming, poor customer service and four minutes of ad inserts per hour--all the while labouring under a death sentence unless they averaged 130 listening hours per day. And now these stations are being told that unless they pay a monthly fee for "Shoutcast for Business" their station will be deleted? Why even do business with a company like that--why not just go with a reputable Shoutcast host like ShoutcastStreaming.us or Stream101.com ? BWorld
Are they being told they must pay a monthly fee now? I haven't heard this yet but I don't subscribe to their services to know for sure. James
Why even do business with a company like that--why not just go with a reputable Shoutcast host like ShoutcastStreaming.us or Stream101.com ? I think they will advertise their 'automation system' as a key feature. Most stream hosts use Centova Cast or a similar system (which is not a bad system, it is industry leading for a reason), but those with gripes with Centova would most likely see the SHOUTcast offering as another alternative. shoutcaststreaming
but those with gripes with Centova would most likely see the SHOUTcast offering as another alternativeYes, but when SHOUTcast / Radionomy hosted streams go UP and DOWN and UP and DOWN and UP and DOWN ..... why even bother going with them. The best way to lose your listening base is to be hosted by an unreliable Stream Host. Plus they want to charge money for their crappy service ?? The phrase "You get what you pay for" is wrong ... with SHOUTcast / Radionomy, "Good luck getting what you paid for". Feel free to come on over 100% correct, their infrastructure lacks the quality and reliability (as demonstrated these past few months), not to mention the expertise. Radionomy and SC are relatively new to the streaming server game. DrO
Am surprised it's taken this long for it to happen especially after Vivendi dropped them last year (the reason for their re-branding) as they've forever had money issues. So them complaining the existing service isn't making the money needed isn't all the surprising + the OVH service was unreliable at the best of times but it's most likely over-subscription as a means to try & keep costs down vs not wanting to pay for developers / support staff to do what's actually needed to improve & fix things. I'd doubt they'd charge for the DNAS itself (that implies a level of support & maintained development they don't want to seem to do) & since they're an Icecast shop, you're more likely to see the DNAS go away than become paid for imho. It's all sad really as there was a chance to do something good & they've just trashed the reputation of so many things *shrugs* -dro
djgary72
I've got someone on another forum swearing blind that he's heard they are going to start charging for the DNAS part I'm trying to get an official response on the Winamp/Shoutcast forums But I doubt that will happen. You know what rumour mills are like.... My Blog https://djgarybaldy.blogspot.com User of RadioDJ FREE radio playout software since 2010. DrO
Maybe they will charge for the DNAS but the company most likely won't say anything until it happens either way (as is their way with such things). Also the hidden replies about the demise of the free streaming service also speak volumes... didn't see them until finding the article & this thread. -dro
