shoutcaststreaming
[TABLE=width: 100%] [TR] [TD]My company is trying to start up a new venture to take over from Stream Licensing left off. Are there any Stream Hosts or investors that are interested ? I don't have the resources to accomplish this without help and / or funding. Anybody want to help out ? Seems a shame that you seem 'forced' to sign up with Live365 instead of continuing with SHOUTcast. voodoohippie
I was under the assumption that you could use your already provided server to go over to Live365. At least in the Pro licensing version I don't know. I'm on disability so I have a sponsor and I was shocked to wake up on Saturday to find out that they had closed down and when you clicked on my player link my listeners got the message that streamlicensing was shut down. This could be a death knell to my radio station if I cannot get this straightened out right away and by not telling us ahead of time they were planning on closing their doors left us little or no room to do anything. Now I will have to search and find out what you can do with live365 since it seems to be the only thing that you can do. djgary72
I guess their business model went the same way of licensing sites of old (LoudCity remember them?) So do we have we any idea just how many stations are affected here? How many are likely to say enough is enough and we can't carry on at Live365's prices.... Its not cheap to be a radio station on the internet anymore. My Blog https://djgarybaldy.blogspot.com User of RadioDJ FREE radio playout software since 2010. voodoohippie
At least we had some warnings about LoudCity when they came out with their latest version of their AutoDJ and there was bugs and the folks were getting slower about replies. I did work with Brandon when he first started and I know my freaking out about a rumor I got from a source that rather not be named but who claimed to have had the inside scoop and told me to start making waves towards putting my station on StreamLicensing or Live365 back then. The Legacy had been on LoudCaster and we had great luck with it until things started to look strange. I have no hard feelings towards Brandon and I can honestly say after my Wife got cancer (and survived) The Legacy would have been dead without his help. SWCast was another circus that left us in the cold Without much warning they went defunct after a buzz started on the Internet that they didn't pay all the royalties with our money (and many still we not refunded) leaving us open for lawsuits. At the time we tried Live365 but didn't like how your station was on a proprietary server system They started a partnership with RadioLoyalty but Radio Loyalty's player was not good so we went with AdsWizz and StreamLicensing for our licensing and was always told they had us covered. My sponsor was also a big fan of SL and thus I didn't really give it much thought. Will Live365 allow my sponsor to have me on his server network, use AdsWizz to help pay the steep costs for licensing? Icecast V2 has been good for us and works with many platforms that allow us to be on the Bose system, Pioneer, Audi, and more. As an Album Rock station its very important to be on the High End Audio systems because of the demanding nature of Progressive Rock and Deep Tracks. saint
I have preached this till i am blue in the face. If you had a rock solid business plan - i am sure that you could create a online funding drive and get supporters. What needs to be done is create an entity for non commercial radio stations - and license them as part of the group. Non commercial stations ( i believe ) get a decent discount as part of a group. shoutcaststreaming
@saint - If's not as easy as you are projecting it is. I have tried to get support to do this and failed 2 years ago and it's not going very well now. Zero support. saint
Nothing is easy without a definitive plan that outlines all the concepts. Project planning - even on a small scale requires a lot of research, input and analysis. I never said it would be easy - all it requires is a plan that is very well organized and researched.
