lumper5
http://www.broadcastingworld.net/resour ... le-48.html First, the link on the front page of this site does not point to the correct URL location for this article; it links to a 404 - File Not Found. 6. Volume Limiter/Booster/Equaler Every program has one, why not sam? Its essentail to get the volume right. SAM has this and has it in spades. SAM's AGC control based on SoundSolution with a gated AGC, limiter, compressor is flexible enough to be used as a soft AGC to a brickwall limiter. SAM's included processing tools are good enough for most applications, though you can achieve a better result with pro level VST plugins (see my stream at http://deeperintomusic.net which uses VSTs from Waves, Voxengo and more to achieve the sound.) SAM allows you to apply the AGC, Equalizer or DSP/VST effects to any deck, or the final mix or both. (VST can be applied with freeware VST to DSP bridges.) 4. Save Event Scedules Some people have events that they like to save to keep for the holidays or special events. This is absolutely do-able with SAM either on the EVENT + CLOCKWHEEL level or even more dynamically via PAL scripting. Also, SAM will play a m3u file you want to create a playlist in another program. SAM does this better than almost any product at its price. I have a Halloween event schedule that runs off of PAL scripting launched by Event Scheduler. 3. Queue Preview A simple but much needed feature, a preview to see whats on queue. This is quite simple to do with SAM. You can either look at the queue on the client or if you want to see it remotely, you can write a very simple PHP script to display full or partial contents of the queue. I use queue order extensively at http://deeperintomusic.net and it's pulling queue info directly from SAM and displaying on the web via PHP scripting. While I think skinning SAM is a silly idea (well, for me - I'm the only one that has to look at it ), I can see FLAC file awareness. A closing warning would be welcome. I hate programs that auto-update. Checking for them with a pop-up is okay, but given that some versions of SAM work better on certain platforms than others (Vista vs. XP, e.g., I don't know if that's absolutely helpful.) I don't understand the usefulness of the the other items in the list. Regards, Keith @ DIM
