1Radio
So who's looked at Radionomy? http://www.radionomy.com/ This sounds like an incredible project - and not a little expensive to set up. In essence, you can create your own free 365x24x7 web radio station - they provide the platform, a massive library of music, jingles, podcasts etc etc (if you dont have your own) and - get this - they cover all the royalties and licensing. Their running costs will apparently be covered by advertising in the stream and on the website - which, for very popular stations with large audiences, they will share with you. It blows projects like mine out the water! Its currently in beta. You can listen but setting up your own station is limited to France and Belgium. I've been trying to get a tester account for ages to see behind the scenes but their system is very geog-sensitive and despite numerous attempts, I'm always politely refused access. I've even used French go-betweens to register and try to sneak me in but still haven't managed it. Take a look and post your comments here. And if you find a route in - I'd love to know.
