mpmss1
Simple way is to maybe do up business cards and hit the local shops/laundromats/libraries, anywhere they might have a bulletion board available to leave advertisments or events. I know this worked for me as the first week I went from averaging 5 listeners a day during work hours to 17. I would have to say that was a great increase. James
Thats great for local market. I spose you could do that for international if you have some keen listeners from around the globe to post some posters out. What about digitally? WayneOwens
I actually did that at one time, the local country station here in town, I called them and told them what I did for a living, and they were so intrigued that some of them actually tuned in a loved the aspect of radio I had, as I'm not into the corporate bullshit like some of it is today.... MixStream.net
Getting listed on iTunes will bring in a lot of listeners, but they won't necessarily get involved in your forums/chatroom etc so you will need to use other methods of promotion if you want to create a community. Maybe get some ads for your forums/live chat. alexr
Maybe get some ads for your forums/live chat. Tell users to go to the live chat/forums to get their message read out we are in itunes and windows media, and really if you want interaction get a chatbox and get in windows media. iTunes is good for pure listener numbers, but you will get a good amount through windows media and some will interact with your site . Bizzacore
Maybe this would be a good place to ask this. Anyone know if there is even a possibility of getting listed with AOL Radio? I know it's run by CBS which is one of the major conglomerates here in the US.. but I'm pretty sure if there's a way for an internet station to get listed on AOL Radio, it'd be killer numbers! citrus3
I think google ad words does the trick very well. It is more of a business tool however if you got some spare pennies you should top up your account and watch your listeners go up. I have spent around £300 on adwords and it got me up to about 300 listeners from just 20. Citrus 3 Shoutcast Hosting
SpazzRadio
I agree that adwords can be an inexpensive marketing tool. I am using a budget of about $1.50 - $2.00 per day and I am getting clicks for $.01 each so I am getting anywhere from 150 - 200 visitors per day from the AdWords campaign. beartrax
I have to agree with citrus3. Google Ad Words has worked for me as well. It can be expensive to invest in but the results are good.
