James
Why should you go for a host that has "unbeatable" prices? Will the host be crappy and only focus on their prices instead of their users? nitnitr
Why should you go for a host that has "unbeatable" prices? Will the host be crappy and only focus on their prices instead of their users? It depends. I've gone with cheap hosts and suffered. I've also found some great deals, especially with one of my hosts that provides a super price and supurb service. In order to find the good, inexpensive hosts, you either need to get a referral from someone, or be willing to get burned now and again.

BWorld
Not just because I work at Stream101, but they do have pretty good pricing compared to the quality of servers they have. They got dual quad cores (8 cores) as well as premium tier-1 bandwidth. We also have exceptional uptime, because all of our stuff is top of the line. Compared to others, such as Viastreaming (I've heard bad things about, lots of hardware probs. & downtime) who brag about their Pentium 4 servers, but charge almost 40% more that we do. I don't see why people have to charge SOOOOOOOOOO much more for streaming, because they can get so many more people if they can offer the level of customer support that we do, as well as the pricing. ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? radiobash
Many providers are very over priced. My prices are below the normal rates. I make it up on volume servers at great prices and a what I feel is a quality product. We do not oversell our servers. The bandwidth is fixed and not shared on our boxes. Our SHOUTcast dedicated boxes are on streaming boxes. We do not host websites or share them. Be careful when searching for a SHOUTcast host. It is always best to test with them before switching over completly. Most reliable SHOUTcast hosts would allow you to test for a week or so to earn your business. Stream Loud! NVnone
Price is not the best way to judge the quality of the service. Usually if you catch hosts that are just starting up, they have lower prices to help get established. The best thing you can do is look for reviews of the hosts, or check with others to see what host they're using.

AJH
I have used cheap services before but not had the best of service and uptime. bigloo
I stay away from those that are VERY cheap, and those that claim 100% uptime. Sorry, but I would hope the server gets rebooted sometimes to keep things fresh. I can't phathom that a server could possibly be up 100% of the time. I do feel many are overpriced, but am leary of "unbeatable prices" because it send a signal to me that they may be overselling, or just not very reliable. ________ Lou Bigloo Christian Radio http://www/biglooradio.com/ digiSTREAM SHOUTcast Hosting http://www.digistream.info/

As a personal advise i suggest to don't compare your services with others Streaming Hosting Provider, don't looks fair play as you work for a streaming company. Personal i was ViaStreaming.com client for 3 years, i was tech. manager on a FM Radio Station from Romania "Mix Fm" and one from the first who start to stream in aacPlus. I was very sadisfy with ViaStreaming services, and now honest, as i follow many provider looking to offer the best services to our listeners, ViaStreaming was first streaming provider who offer a complete own SHOUTcast Administration Panel with Geoip listeners, Gmap point of listeners, Port 80 stream for firewalled connection ... and list can continue... stuff what others provider looking few years to offer and now all have that. I suppose you have to respect develop jobs of ViaStreaming.com on streaming world as you offer now some services what Via offer from many years, and ... you still have to learn from there. I hope you agree with me and you will now take personal my comments:boonie:, i see your post and i feel is necessary to replay on your ... let's say little "statements termagant" . There are plenty of Tier-1 bandwidth providers and I would suggest looking at those first. Sure the price might be a bit more, but it WILL pay off in the long run. Make sure to avoid COGENT bandwidth as it is the cheapest and WORST bandwidth available. ██ Stream101 | Affordable Media Solutions ██ Shared cPanel? cybermix
how do we know if they are just starting up or have been there for a long time? If you look better on google.com you will see ;), i don't lose time just to replay on a message. Also a new website (if you know all this) it's not so good index if it's some new website, just for your info, look on google.com for shoutcast or streaming and you will find the answer. And personal i was his client from 2005 to 2008 when our radio station has been sale to another network ;)

cybermix
Price you get what you pay for keep that in mind. I totally agree with you, quality of services are direct reflected on prices. A good friend of mine have great words (are translated something like this): "I am too poor for me to allow something so cheap!".;) I see many "bad jokes" with unlimited streaming slots / 128kbps for approx. 50$ per month :biggrinthumb: he he. First it's to unprofessional (one reason are google ads and website design), second the information on website are ... to much unclear, you have to looking on hosting to find the streaming prices , again something very unprofessional. Also, where you see that super prices, honest, for a chile company, no name, the prices are little high, and belive me with that website "face", i don't know run there for super services (btw, live support offline???, address, phone number, company name?). Are many fake streaming company. I'm not using, it's my only one first impresion about this Streaming provider. So, we go back to ajruss magic words: "Price you get what you pay for keep that in mind."
